Comets Drop ProphetsJanuary 05, 2018
The injury bug has had a lock on the Prophets this season and once again it kept them from showing their true potential against Newman on Friday. The Comets grabbed a 5 point lead at the half and went on to a 56-36 win.
The Prophets could not hang with the Comets after the half as they were outscored by 15 in the second half. The Prophets were without one of their top scorers, Brayton Lavine,
Logan Henrekin led the scoring with 18 followed by Sam Jones with 9. The Comets were led by Cade Gorzny with 19 including 5, 3-pointers.
Prophet Coach Patrick Henrekin said,"I thought we played pretty solid defense overall tonight. Newman is very hard to defend. We ended up being down three important players, again, and I think that fatigue set in. We shot the ball poorly. When they did knock down a few shots, we struggled to keep pace and eventually just didn't have enough in the tank to hang with them. I told the guys afterwards that I was proud of them and felt that we played especially hard tonight."
The Prophets host Bureau Valley on Tuesday.
