Friends of Mark Hummel gathered for a little
food and fun at the shop on Wednesday.

The shop isn't fancy and their isn't even a sign out front. but everyone in Prophetstown knows where Mark Hummel's shop is located. Hummel has been running his mechanic shop for decades, but as all things go it must come to an end.  Hummel is retiring.

The building was built in 1947 on the corner of Lafayette and Railroad Streets.  It housed Carl Brewer Chrysler/Plymouth. Then in 1951, it was Rollo Chevrolet/Oldsmobile. Finally in 1959, it became Francis Pierceson Ford. Mark went to work for Pierceson in 1963. Then in 1969, Mark purchased the building ,and it became Mark's Auto Repair.

Mark has been turning wrenches ever since. He would work on anything with a motor in it.

Friend Greg "Bubba" Raser said," Mark has done a great service to the community, and is a good friend to all who know him. Good Luck Mark !!!!"

Friends gathered at the shop Wednesday to celebrate and wish him well.
