Lion's Blood Drive February 12thFebruary 05, 2018
Submitted by Janet Jarvis
The Prophetstown Lion's Club will be holding a blood drive on Monday, February 12th at the PLT#3 district office from 11:30 - 5:00.
The American Red Cross has a critical need for blood donors to give now to help address a winter blood donation shortage caused by ongoing severe winter weather in parts of the country and widespread flu. More than 550 blood drives have been forced to cancel due to winter weather in the first three weeks of January, causing over 16,500 blood donations to go uncollected. Blood donations are critically needed in the coming days so that patients can continue to receive lifesaving treatments. In addition to unfavorable weather, seasonal flu has contributed to very low turnout at many blood drives. Right now, blood and platelet donations are being distributed to hospitals faster than they come in. If there is not a time slot available that works with your schedule, please contact Ken Cocking or me and we would be happy to make your appointment for you- firstname.lastname@example.org
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.
Thank you for supporting the American Red Cross blood program!
