Wow, what a great turnout for the Christmas Parade! I think we had a record number of entries and spectators and the weather was perfect for the event! There are quite a number of people I would like to thank for all their help with Prophetstown’s 32nd Annual Lighted Christmas parade.
First off, I would like to thank the parade committee, they spend countless hours planning and organizing the parade, you wouldn’t believe the amount of work that goes into just getting the lineup worked out on paper, not to mention getting the entries into the lineup the day of the parade. Thank you again parade committee you did a fantastic job once again!
Next. I would like to thank Chief Bruce Franks, Jerrod Reynolds of the Prophetstown Police Department and Brian Strike with Prophetstown Public Works Department. These guys worked with the parade committee planning the parade and helping with the street closures so that we were able to have the carriage and train rides on Main Street. All the guys at the Public Works Department got all the decorations on the light poles and all the lights up on the businesses. It makes our Main Street look so festive. We couldn’t have done it without them.
Thanks to Les Wilson and his family for treating the community children to rides on Percy The Train and to Brad Varnell at TC Mobile Pressure Wash for allowing us to use his lot for a depot. The Prophetstown Post Office and Robin at the Riverside Motel for allowing their lots to be used for handicapped parking.
Kim and Pam Meyer, thank you for once again presenting a wonderful living Nativity and to Shaw’s Marketplace for allowing the use of their lot for the production.
I would like to thank the volunteers that helped throughout the day getting the final details in place and working with the parade committee. I would also like to thank our Main Street businesses for getting into the holiday spirit with your window decorations, specials for the day, and your parade entries. I also need to thank the Prophetstown Fire department for hosting Santa and Mrs. Claus as they do every year and driving them before and during the parade.
Of course, I must thank everyone that had an entry in our parade. We wouldn’t have a parade without you! Every year the floats get bigger and better! The amount of people that show up to see the parade and shop our local businesses seem to grow each year too. Thank you for coming to support Prophetstown.
One more big “Thank You” to Hanford-Schuneman Agency for once again sponsoring the Christmas Parade and for all your help!
Lastly, I would like to thank my family, I put them to work on just about everything parade related and had them running around all day getting things set up. Hopefully I haven’t missed anyone, this is a community event and it takes the community to pull it off each year. Thank you again everyone for making the parade this year another huge success!
