Park Board Approves Levy

The Prophetstown Park District Board approved the purchase of $125,00 in general obligation bonds from the Prophetstown Farmers National Bank during their December meeting. A  tax levy rate was approved with a slight reduction in the rate from last year. The budget for 2018 was also adopted.

 

During her report Director Karyn Sommers-Buck told the board that the PDRMA review has been completed with the district receiving a score of 93.64. That score allows the district to receive a $1,000 rebate per year and review every 4 years instead of every 2 years.

 

7th/8th grade boys’ basketball league will start in January. Elementary basketball will be on Wednesday nights for 6 weeks, starting January 3rd. Swim Lessons start January 10th – February 10th.

 

The district is offering special deals during January. Membership rates will be reduced by 15% off through January 5th. Buy One-Get One Free Class attendance in January and the Fitness Challenge starts January 2nd and runs through end of February.

 

In other action the board approved Christmas Bonuses for employees keeping the amount the same as last year. The installation of the new security camera system will start on January 2nd.

 

A special meeting with the PLT#3 School Board buildings and grounds committee was canceled by the school district. The meeting was set to discuss the property swap proposal. There was no other discussion on the Grove Street property.

 

The next board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m.
