PHS Seniors Meet With Lt. GovernorFebruary 07, 2018

Last Tuesday, February 6th, Illinois Lieutenant Governor, Evelyn Sanguinetti, visited the Sauk Valley CEO program at the Whiteside Area Career Center in Sterling. Lt. Governor Sanguinetti spoke about her background, and talked about how the educational opportunities she received when younger were crucial to her success.
Three Prophetstown High School seniors are part of the CEO program this year. Kade Kovarik, Kallie Timmons, and Jasmine Haggard listened to and met with Sanguinetti .
Lt. Governor Sanguinetti then asked the CEO students questions about the CEO program and encouraged students to use this great opportunity to set and reach future goals. She finished her visit by addressing a question regarding her goals to help Illinois become more business friendly.
"The CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) program is a One year program offered to a junior or senior student that acquaints students with the knowledge and skills necessary to own and operate their own businesses. Concepts such as supply and demand, cost/benefit analysis, competitive advantages, and opportunity recognition are covered. Coursework includes innovative thinking strategies, product development, business structure, marketing, financial strategies, record keeping, and preparing an income statement, balance sheet, income and cash flow statements. Entrepreneurial thinking (out-of-the box problem solving) is utilized throughout the course. This course will take place in area businesses, and will include tours of local industry and guest speaker from all areas of business." WACC Website
