PHS Student Council Supports Caleb

November 13, 2017

Six year old Caleb Clausen, of Walnut, was hit by a tanker truck on Tuesday afternoon, September 19, 2017, resulting in several life threatening injuries. He was life flighted to Peoria, IL where he has undergone 10 surgeries. He is improving, but has an extensive rehabilitation process ahead.

Prophetstown High School Student Council members Sydney Minssen and Aleeciea Kindle  brought up the idea to help support the family after learning about Caleb's accident.   Advisor Jordan Mauer said the council held several fundraisers including sucker sales, a Hat Day, and a "Serve for Soda"  challenge, which was held after a few home volleyball games over the past few months and raised $701, which they donated to a fund set up to help the family cover expenses during Caleb's recovery.

Mauer said,"Thank you to the students and the community for reaching out by donating money for the Clausen family. My students in student council wanted to help with the family's expenses and we are grateful for the generosity. Caleb and his family continue to be in our thoughts as he goes through the recovery process."
