On Tuesday the sophomore class from Prophetstown High School attended Western Whiteside County Manufacturing Day. The purpose of the day was to give information about career opportunities in the manufacturing field available for students after high school.

PHS Students took a tour of Sterling Multi-Products
on Tuesday.

The day started at Morrison Institute of Technology with a presentation by various manufacturing representatives. A program at Sauk Valley Community College that offers students the opportunity to work while attending classes, was explained. Speakers also talked about the Whiteside Area Career Center and MIT and what programs are offered at each.

The Prophetstown sophomores were split into two groups with one group going to Sterling Multi-Products in Prophetstown. The other group went to the Walmart Distribution Center in Sterling with each company giving a tour of  their facility and explaining what qualities and skills they look for in an employee.

Sponsors for the trip were Mrs. Lindahl, Mrs. Wetzell and Mrs, Siltman.
