Along the Rock: Meet the New Rock Falls Chamber Director! What’s Ahead for Local Businesses & the Community

Hosted by Kierstyn Long, Article by Sara Bellows

On this episode of Along the Rock, host Kierstyn Long welcomes Camryn Johnson, the new director of the Rock Falls Chamber, and Marissa Razo, the Chamber’s program coordinator, to discuss the Chamber’s work in the community, upcoming events, and Johnson’s plans for the organization.

Johnson’s connection to the Rock Falls Chamber goes back several years. Her involvement began while she was in high school, when she volunteered with the Chamber. She later returned as a summer intern before becoming a Chamber ambassador while working in another position.

Now, Johnson has taken on the role of Chamber director, bringing years of familiarity with the organization and its work to her new position.

Supporting Local Businesses

A major part of the Rock Falls Chamber’s mission is supporting local businesses and helping them remain connected to the community.

Since becoming director, Johnson has been focused on growing Chamber membership and strengthening relationships with local businesses. One of the ways the Chamber is doing that is through member drop-ins, giving Chamber representatives opportunities to connect directly with businesses throughout the community.

Johnson is also working to update Chamber materials, including membership packets and sponsorship opportunities, to make the organization more current and accessible to businesses.

The Chamber serves as a resource for business owners, providing support with advertising, questions, and community connections. Through that work, the organization aims to help strengthen Rock Falls by strengthening the businesses that make up the local community.

Growing the Chamber

Looking ahead, one of Johnson’s primary goals is to grow the Chamber and increase its membership.

She hopes to build greater awareness of the Chamber’s role in Rock Falls and demonstrate the ways it supports local businesses and the community as a whole.

For the immediate future, much of the Chamber’s attention is focused on preparing for a busy schedule of events throughout the remainder of 2026.

Among the upcoming activities are the Chamber’s Biz Boo Trick-or-Treat event in October and Hometown Holidays in November. The Chamber is also preparing for a brand-new dinner show experience scheduled for October 22.

New Dinner Show Coming October 22

The Rock Falls Chamber has partnered with SERVPRO of Clinton and Sterling to bring the new dinner show experience to the community.

The event will take place at The Classroom in Nelson and will feature an interactive mystery dinner-style experience. Dixon Stage Left will provide the entertainment, while Lundstrom is helping with floral centerpieces.

Tickets are $30 and include the dinner and show experience.

The Classroom will provide the food for the evening, with pizza, pasta, and other offerings planned for guests.

The Chamber is also encouraging the community to follow the Rock Falls Chamber on Facebook, where hints about the mystery will be released leading up to the event.

The dinner show is another example of how the Chamber is bringing local organizations and businesses together to create experiences for the community while supporting the Chamber’s broader mission.

Building Community Through Events

Events remain an important part of the Rock Falls Chamber’s work. They provide opportunities for local businesses to participate directly in community activities while giving residents opportunities to connect with businesses in a fun and informal setting.

The Biz Boo Trick-or-Treat event is one example, bringing businesses together to hand out candy to children during the Halloween season.

With several events still ahead in 2026, Johnson, Razo and the Chamber team are focused on keeping the organization active and connected throughout the community.

For Johnson, the new role represents the next step in a long relationship with the Chamber. Her experience as a volunteer, intern, and ambassador has given her an understanding of the organization from multiple perspectives.

As she begins her tenure as director, the focus remains on growing membership, supporting local businesses, and making the Rock Falls Chamber an increasingly visible part of the community.
