A Christmas Eve service that provided a humbling setting was held in the barn on the Gail and Janet Goodell farm on Monday night.  The service was organized by Pastor Jan Shaulis, who presides at the Leon and Fenton United Methodist Churches,  and was attended by about 120 people.

Dozens of luminaries were set up along the road by volunteers to lead the way to the barn. The hosts set up chairs and bales for seating and added even more realism to the Nativity celebration with the addition of two donkeys.  Musical accompaniment was performed by Diane Ploenzke Deter, who led the group in several classic carols. Father Tony Kretowicz, pastor at St. Catherine and St. Ambrose also performed songs.

A scripture reading detailing the birth of Jesus Christ was read and a reflection was offered by Pastor Shaulis.  The evening concluded with guests treated to cookies, hot chocolate, and hot spiced cider.
