Two boys from Prophetstown, ages 11 and 13, were named local champions of the 2018 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and have earned the right to compete at the district level.
Council #13791 Erie-Prophetstown-Tampico sponsored the local competition at Prophetstown High School on January 21st. All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 were eligible to participate.
In the 11-year-old bracket, Owen Farral was the boys’ champion and in the 13-year-old division,
the boys’ winner was Jaesan Gaylord. Each contestant was allowed 15 free throw attempts in the contests.
Each of these winners will compete in the district competition to be held February 11th at St Andrew’s School, Rock Falls with an eye toward moving on to the Regional and State levels later this spring.
