Defending Class 1A State Pole Vault Champion Kyle Kruthoff has signed to attend the College of Dupage to continue his academic and vaulting career. Family, friends, and coaches gathered at the Erie High School Media Center to witness and celebrate the occasion.
Kruthoff has cleared a personal best 16'4" this spring and is currently one of the elite jumpers in the state. With his parents, John and Gretchen at his side, the senior inked his name to an agreement that he sees as a win for both his athletic and professional future. The college has an outstanding Fire Sciences Program, which is Kruthoff's career choice. He currently serves as a volunteer with the Albany Fire Department.
His sister, Courtney, also a state track medalist, attends Central College in Iowa and competes in the decathlon. He has a goal of clearing 17 feet this spring and repeating as state champion.
