Local Charities Benefit From Main Street Event

00:00 AM December 11, 2017

Prophetstown Man Street held its Annual Charity Auction on Saturday night at Prophet Hills Country Club.  The event raised over $900 for several local organizations including Lions Toys for Tots, Prophetstown Historical Society, Humane Society, Girl Scouts, and Henry C. Adams Memorial Library.

A few of the live auction items that were sold to
raise money for local charities.

The event included beer and wine tasting presented by Crystal Cork from Dixon, Il. Several silent auction items were sold but the majority of the charity funds were raised from the live auction which was emceed by Jason Taylor.

The event took an interesting turn when the power went out about two-thirds of the way through the auction.  Fortunately the guest tables had been decorated with lit candles and with the help of a few smartphone lights the event continued.

The event also benefits Prophetstown Main Street, which promotes the town and sponsors several community events during the year.
