Quad Cities 12/05/18- WQUD-FM 107.7 Vintage Radio’s third annual “Stuff for the Troops” drive has already shipped 228 “We Care Packages” overseas to U.S. Troops serving in all branches of our military in appreciation of their service this holiday season. A project that started small has grown to raise over $10,000 in monetary and item donations and will reach this year’s goal of sending over ONE TON of goods to the troops this year.
WQUD-FM General Manager Aaron Dail stated, “these are mostly items the troops have a hard time obtaining but provide them with a basic level of comfort in the field: deodorant, beef jerky, Wipees, snacks of all kinds, magazines, cotton socks, mouse traps along with Christmas cards and letters of thanks and encouragement from listeners and elementary school kids. This a way for the community to tell the troops we are thinking of them as they sacrifice their time away from home on Christmas defending our freedom”.
Pat Jones from Vintage Radio will be broadcasting live at Carpetland USA in Davenport from 3:00p – 5:00p Thursday for a final push of donated items to fill additional “We Care Packages”. Pat will also have ticket and swag giveaways while supplies last!
Items can be donated at Carpetland USA locations in Moline, Davenport, and Clinton; Brenny’s Motorcycle Works in Bettendorf; First Trust and Savings Bank locations in Port Byron, Albany, Erie, and Hillsdale; Carquest in Morrison; Erie State Bank, and the WQUD studios in Erie or the WQUD business office on the seventh floor of the US Bank Building in Davenport.
Please contact WQUD-FM with addresses of any military family or friends who are serving our Country overseas during the holidays by calling 309-659-7608 or by emailing email@example.com.
