The Dixon Municipal Band will present its annual Patriotic Concert in conjunction with the Petunia Festival on Friday, July 3rd at 7:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Old Lee County Courthouse in downtown Dixon.

Under the direction of Jon James, the band will perform an inspiring evening of patriotic favorites celebrating America’s heritage and honoring those who have served our country. The program will feature classic marches and stirring concert selections, including The Liberty Bell March, American Civil War Fantasy, Armed Forces Salute, and the newly composed USA-250! March, and the beloved Petunia Festival March.

Audience members are invited to join in singing during a Patriotic Sing-a-Long led by vocalist Nancy Burnett, featuring many of America’s favorite patriotic songs. The concert will conclude with the timeless classic America the Beautiful.

The evening will also showcase two talented soloists from the Dixon Municipal Band. Alto saxophonist James Cocar will perform the hauntingly beautiful Harlem Nocturne, while tenor saxophonist Blake Ferguson-Allen will be featured on the classic Moon River.

The annual Patriotic Concert has long been a highlight of the Petunia Festival, bringing together families, friends, and visitors for an evening of outstanding music in a beautiful outdoor setting. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy this free community concert celebrating our nation and the spirit of the Petunia Festival.
