Ava Grawe chased home three runs with a homer over the left field fence in the bottom of the third to give the Panthers the lead and the only runs they would need for the victory. Wynn Renkes earned the win for EP as she gave up 4 hits and struck out 6 in 4 innings of work. Ayden Klendworth finished the game allowing 1 earned run, 2 hits, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts.
After two scoreless innings the Panthers got their offense going. With one out, Laken Renkes turned a single into three bases as she used her speed and a bobble by the centerfielder to slide into third safely. Chloe Hamilton reached on an error to set up Grawe for her blast to put EP up 3-0. Leah Richmond singled down the first base line and came home on a triple by Wynn Renkes to make it 4-0.
Mercer County got on the board in their final at bat as a walk, a passed ball, and a wild pitch led to a run.
Laken Renkes led the EP offense with three knocks, including a double and a triple. Grawe had a homerun and 3 RBIs.
EP coach Jessie Rosenow said her team performed well. “We had solid pitching from both of our pitchers. Wynn Renkes starting the game strong after a long night the previous game with a short turn around. Ayden Klendworth came in to close and also pitched a solid game. Laken Renkes was a home run short of a cycle going 3-4 in the night with a single, double and triple. Ava Grawes 3 run home run was huge for us. Wynn had the other RBI with her triple. No errors defensively was nice to see. We only had 2 strike outs offensively for the night and we’re putting the ball into play. If we can just start hitting the gaps, we’re going to see a lot more runs on our scoreboard.”
The 5-5 Lady Panthers will host Newman on Monday.
