The City’s proposed project is for the addition of a Splash Pad at Waterworks Park. The City is currently working to gather costs and public input about the potential improvements, which is why the City is asking for resident feedback. The City is inviting residents of Morrison to attend the Public Information Meetings to discuss the proposed project. There will be two total meetings held – Monday, July 27th at 6:30 p.m. & Monday, August 24th at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be held at the Odell Public Library in the Community Room, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison.
The City is looking to apply to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (DNR) – Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grant program. This grant program can pay up to 50% of the overall eligible project costs, which will provide the City with financial assistance and help in stretching the City’s revenue to complete additional projects.
For more information on the City’s proposed project or the public information meetings, please contact the Morrison City Administrator, Brian Melton, at 815-772-7657.
Waterworks Park – 503 West Winfield Street
Located on the south side of Morrison, near the County Fairgrounds, this park is 12.4 acres and offers a baseball diamond, playground, picnic shelter, lots of open green space, and parking lots. In addition, there are also two tennis courts available in Waterworks Park, located on the east end of the park, as well as a 1/4 mile walking path along the lower portion of the park.
During the winter months, Waterworks Park is home to the Morrison Winter Park. An ice skating rink is constructed on the tennis courts and maintained by local volunteers.

One Response
Ottawa, Illinois has three city parks with splashpads. All also have an open-air shelter with tables nearby for parents to congregate while their children romp through the water. The splashpads have been wonderful additions to these parks and are usually very busy. Playgrounds are nearby, as well.
