The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities is providing an opportunity for weather enthusiasts and concerned citizens to enhance their weather-spotting skills.

The NWS QC is hosting three free, virtual Winter Skywarn Spotter training sessions in November.

These sessions, scheduled for November 16 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., November 21 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., and November 29 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., aim to educate participants about spotting techniques during the cool season. The training will also offer additional insights for “All-season” spotters. Importantly, this training is supplementary and not mandatory for volunteer spotters.

The sessions are open to the public and free of charge. Participants can register for the virtual training through the following links:

Participants are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their understanding of weather spotting. For more information, please contact the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities.
