Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the Erie United Methodist Church in Erie. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie United Methodist Church or the Erie Food Pantry.
Jean was born November 21, 1934, in Erie, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Jeannett (Griede) Schaver. She married Darrell Spaid on January 4, 1953, in Erie. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1994. Jean was a previous member of the church board, where she was also employed. She also worked for the late Dr. G. William Manalo, Erie State Bank, was an election judge, and co-chairman of the Erie Food Pantry. She was also a member of the Erie Senior Citizens. Jean enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading, word finds, watching wrestling, and board and card games.
Jean is survived by her son Larry (Amy) Spaid of Moline; granddaughter Alexandrea (Megan) Eckhardt; great-granddaughter Remi; brother Don Schaver and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and –nephews, and great-great-nieces and –nephews, all with whom she enjoyed doing activities. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darrell; sister Beverly (Kenneth “Bud”) Krueger; infant brother Vernon; and sister-in-law Frances (Ropp) Schaver.
