Inigo Montoya, inspired by the iconic character from The Princess Bride, is the last of a themed group of dogs that once included names like Princess Buttercup and Humperdinck. At just over a year old, Inigo is a terrier, pitbull, and black lab mix with a striking chocolate brindle coat that stands out immediately. His soft fur and vibrant personality make a strong first impression, but it is his affectionate nature that truly defines him.
Described as a love bug, Inigo thrives on attention and enjoys being around people. He is especially energetic, making him a great match for an active household. Whether it is long walks, outdoor playtime, or simply burning off energy in the yard, Inigo is always ready to go. His enthusiasm makes him a great companion for families with older children who can match his activity level and enjoy interactive play.
At the shelter, Inigo has shown that he does well with other dogs, though his compatibility with cats remains uncertain. Staff notes that he has not shown friendliness toward cats so far, and due to safety concerns, thorough testing in that environment is limited. Overall, his only notable challenge appears to be his high energy and preference for a home without cats.
Despite limited background information due to being a transfer, Inigo has already overcome a significant medical issue. When he first arrived, his lower eyelids were curled inward, causing discomfort as his eyelashes irritated his eyes. The shelter’s veterinary team performed corrective surgery, and he has since made a full recovery. His eyes are now healthy, and he is back to enjoying life without irritation.
Inigo’s adoption fee is $350, and interested adopters can apply through Granny Rose Animal Shelter’s website at grannyroseanimalshelter.org. Once approved, Inigo can go home with a family ready to match his energy and provide the love and structure he needs.
Granny Rose Animal Shelter continues to serve the community by caring for animals like Inigo while also welcoming donations. Cleaning supplies are always in demand due to the daily upkeep required to maintain a healthy environment. The shelter also accepts treats and toys, which are often included in adoption care packages to help new pet owners transition smoothly.
With his playful spirit, affectionate personality, and striking appearance, Inigo Montoya stands out as a dog full of potential. For anyone looking for a loyal companion who will keep up with an active lifestyle and provide endless affection, he may be the perfect fit.
