Sauk Valley Grown: Farm to Table Dinner and Tours

Submitted

Illinois Extension, Whiteside Area Career Center, and Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce are partnering to host a day of farm tours and a special dinner, highlighting the quality and variety of food grown right here in the Sauk Valley region!

The students of the WACC Culinary Arts Program will be curating, planning, preparing, and presenting a delicious dinner on Thursday, September 10th at 5:00 p.m. The meal will feature a main course of prime rib and dishes made with local ingredients, such as organically grown mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, apples, and other fresh garden produce.

We invite you to join us to support our WACC students and the excellent work they do, as well as our local agricultural industry. Seats are $50 per person. Purchase your tickets here by September 3rd!

Several optional tours of local farms are also part of the Sauk Valley Grown event, as well as a tour of WACC before the dinner. Tours begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sept. 10 and are included in the per-person price. Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration is required as some have limited availability. Participants do not need to attend the tours to attend dinner. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from tours.

After registering, participants will receive a link to sign up for tours at the following farms:

  • JL Acres, Sterling
  • Roots Market, Sterling
  • All Good Things Foster and Family, Amboy (Lavender Farm)
  • Hohlen Homestead, Dixon
  • S&J Hobby Farms, Amboy
