Upcoming Events at the Erie Public Library

Submitted

Erie Public Library is hosting a variety of free events in July and August:

Story Quest™

Every day

Story Quest™ is a choose-your-own-adventure story come to life. You’ll be given the first page of your adventure at the library. From there, the choices you make will lead you around town, dodging spells or fighting dragons before you’re led back to the library in hopes of putting yourself back to normal. Participants receive a passport to track their travels. Story Quest™ is designed for kids and their grown-ups.

Get Your Own Microgreens

Anytime

The doctor said to add in some salads but you don’t know where to start. With an estimated 40x the nutrients of their full grown plants, microgreens can get you on track to your goals. Come to the library and get your daily serving of microgreens (and a few recipes to try with them) completely free.

Book Walk™

Anytime

The book club that takes you for a walk! This month’s book is The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife. Read it (laugh, cry, love) and then come in to grab a map and discover questions and fun facts about the book along a walking route. It’s part book club, part treasure hunt, part very fun afternoon. The walk is about 3/4th of a mile and reported to be most fun when done with a friend.

Open Studio

July 18th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Artists! Crafters! This is your chance to work with and be inspired by other artists! Come to the library and join Open Studio. Bring your knitting, sewing, painting, literally any art or craft you’re working on – and don’t forget the snacks! Meet with your fellow artists, swap ideas, and get caught up on your craft (and chats!).

Cookbook Club

August 1st, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The book club with all the best food! Every month we choose a new book and each cook one recipe from it. Then we meet up and feast! This month, we are cooking recipes from Half Baked Harvest Super Simple. Stop by the library to flip through the book and pick out a recipe. Email your recipe selection to Director@EriePublicLibrary.com.

Board Game Club

August 4th, 5-8 p.m.

Everyone knows board gamers are the coolest group around and now they’re at the Erie Public Library in this monthly meet up. Come play one of our games or bring one of yours, meet new gamers here or bring some friends. Either way, it’s a low-key evening spent playing games you love. Bring snacks and your A-game! (This event is unsupervised. Recommended ages: 15 and up. Younger with an adult.)

Lego Club

August 8th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Come build with our massive Lego collection. Bring a friend or meet one here. Work as a team or create something independently. Either way you belong to the best Lego club around and get access to incredibly unique Legos.  Lego club is unsupervised. No registration is required. Recommended ages: 9 and up (or younger with adult)

Learn to Play Mahjong

August 24 & 31 and September 14 & 21, 9:30 – 11 a.m.

Due to popular demand, we are hosting a Learn to Play Mahjong class! Everything you need to learn will be provided – you just come ready to learn, play, and have fun. Space is limited to ensure individual attention. Attendance is required at all four classes. Interested adults should email Director@EriePublicLibrary.com to save your seat.
