For the EP Panthers, boys and girls track as well as softball and baseball practices are underway with the Panther softball squad starting their season one week earlier due to a change in the IHSA schedule.
Even before the Lady Panthers take to the diamond, three seniors on this year’s squad have already committed to playing college ball next year. Taylor Richmond, Leah Richmond, and Lilly Swatos have all signed to play at Sauk Valley Community College holding a signing ceremony recently at the school.
SVCC head softball coach Derron Sellers said, “The Skyhawks family is extremely excited to add three more E/P softball players to our roster. Lilian, Leah and Taylor are all a great example of what we look for in a student athlete. We welcome them as a part of our future and theirs.”

Lady Panther Head Coach, Jessie Russell attended the signings and is excited to see the athletes continue their softball careers. “All three girls bring tremendous versatility to the field, with the ability to compete both in the infield and outfield, which is a great strength to have to play at the next level,” said Russell. “With going to school, playing travel ball, and competing in high school together, it only makes sense that they would choose to continue their college careers side by side.”
Swatos was a regular in last year’s EP lineup with the Richmonds coming off the bench as juniors.
“Each of these young ladies have invested countless hours into developing their skills, and their dedication is all paying off,” added Russell. “I am beyond proud to be their coach and excited to watch them continue their softball careers at Sauk Valley.”

The Lady Panthers open their 2026 campaign on Friday, March 19th hosting Stark County.
