The win gives the young Panthers a perfect 8-0 record for the season. Next week’s game with Hall was cancelled so EP can begin its postseason preparation.
Coach Kyle Foster said his team rallied in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit. “Riverdale was tough, and had us down 8-6 at halftime. I told them they needed to rise to the moment if they wanted to accomplish something special, and they answered. We were able to out together two nice scoring drives in the second half, and our defense found ways to stifle their rushing attack that had gashed us in the first half.”
During the course of the season, the squad lost several players to the varsity level but continued to play at a high level. “I’m so proud of these guys. To be able to come together like they have, play through some bumps in the road, and have a “next man up” mentality when some guys got pulled up to varsity is a testament to how well they work week in and week out at practice. I’m excited to see where this group can go in the years to come. They have all of the tools and talent. They key will be how hungry are they, and how badly do they want to outwork their opponents.”
The undefeated season adds more fuel to an EP football program that continues to rise to the top of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
Foster added, “8th message sent. Hopefully the conference realizes EP football is for real.”
