Taking on Bella Castelli of Rockton Hononegah to earn a spot in the medal round Naftzger had to move past the memory of a regional title loss to Castelli, who won a 15-6 major decision three weeks ago at Belvidere.
Naftzger had control for the majority of the first two periods but was unable to score. Starting the third period in the down position, Castelli was able to escape to go up 1-0 with 90 seconds remaining. Castelli took a shot with about 50 seconds to go but naftzger was able to counter and seemed to have scored a takedown but no points were awarded. With seconds ticking away Naftzger continued to try and improve her position with EP Panther coaches, Thad and Tharren Jacobs, yelling for three points to be awarded.
With three seconds remaining the official finally awarded the points almost simultaneously with time expiring. After a quick consultation with the other mat official, the points were confirmed and the senior walked into the medal round with a 3-1 win
