Panther Golfers Win Kewanee Invite

The invitational was a prelude to the competition the Panthers will see in their IHSA Regional in a couple weeks.

The Panthers were steady through the round and really turned it on during their closing holes to win the event with a 323 total. Hall and Brimfield tied for second at 326. Will Snyder from Brimfield took medalist honors with a 73.

Juniors, Gavin VanDyke and Callen Keegan each had their best rounds of the year and tied for 4th place with 78s to lead the Panthers. Grayson Johnston had an 82 and Sawyer Copeland’s 85 concluded the teams scoring. Brevin VanDyke also had an 85 and Brady Timmerman an 88. Sophomore, Keegan Ryan played as a non counting competitor and finished with a fine 79.

Head coach Ryan Winckler was thrilled with his teams determination.”Each player over came adversity during their rounds. I kept encouraging them to hang in there and good things will happen. They did in the end!”

The Panthers take their undefeated dual meet record on the road to Highland Springs in Rock Island Monday to battle Rockridge.
