Gary was born August 31, 1939, in Osage, IA, the son of Walter and Maxine (Anderson) Borchardt. He married Dorothy Trowbridge in 1961 in Osage, IA. Gary was employed with John Deere for 32 years. He had a deep love for horses and found great peace in his time spent with them.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Borchardt; one son, Brandon (Ronda) Borchardt, all of Albany; one daughter, Brenda (Kurt) Hartman, of Alden, IA; five grandchildren, Breann (Brett) Rauch, of Clinton, IA, Bridget (Dylan) Drury, of Albany, Jordan (John) Dunley, of Orleans, NE, Jackie (Levi) Chipp, of Latimer, IA, and Justin (Makenzi) Wenzel, of West Point, IA; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service will be held at Lusk Cemetery in Albany.
