Kelm will highlight his 50 years of experience with 4-H. He’s the longest-serving 4-H volunteer in Whiteside County, having been a leader of the Hume Happy Hustlers Club, a 4-H Camp volunteer, and a Support Fund volunteer. He was inducted into the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame in 2006 and recognized for his 50 years of service during the Whiteside County 4-H Show at the fairgrounds in Morrison last year.
As of now, the presentation will be held at the Tampico Historical Society Museum, 119 S. Main St., but organizers may move it down the street to the community building, 106 W. Market St. If so, they’ll make an announcement on their Facebook page and put a sign on the door.
For those who live far or not able to get to the presentations, they’re broadcast live on the TAHS Facebook page and later posted on YouTube. To see the live broadcasts, just come to this event page at 6:00 p.m. and join in. If you would like to see TAHS events on YouTube, click this link. Be sure to subscribe to the channel to see presentations and oral histories in the future!
If you’re interested in attending the TAHS meetings, they’re held every 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum. All presentations are free and for the community’s education and entertainment.
If you’re interested in becoming a member of TAHS or to even volunteer for any of their projects, you can email Jenee Blackert at tampicoareahistory@gmail.com.
