The high school sweethearts were wed on August 14, 1976, in Fulton, Illinois. The couple has three children, Jennifer (Matt), Julie (Todd), and Michael (Meaghan), and five grandchildren: Caleb, Cara, Cooper, Caitlin, and Nolan (in heaven).
Donald is retired after 40 years of teaching and coaching, primarily for the Prophetstown-Lyndon/PLT School District. Debra is retired after working as a licensed practical nurse at Mercy Hospital, Clinton, and Whiteside County Health Department, Rock Falls.
The couple now spends their time on pickleball courts in the area, fishing in Chetek, Wis., and traveling.
