The fountain was donated by Elkay Manufacturing of Savanna, with a crew from Alvarado Plumbing Service of Morrison connecting it to the water line. “It was quite an endeavor for Alvarado Plumbing to get the water running again at the Bark Park,” said Karla Burn, chairperson of the On the Move with Parks and Rec Committee. She thanks the company for donating their valuable time to this project.
The installation was one of the last items of the 3-plus-year project to bring a dog park to the community. On the Move dedicated the Bark Park back to the city of Morrison on Sept. 11 with a ribbon-cutting and celebration of its completion.
The Bark Park is located by Kiwanis Park on Genesee Street, north of Northside Elementary School. The park has space for larger and smaller breeds to roam and run.
The organization is very grateful for all the sponsors and supporters of the ongoing project that started with an idea in 2019 and fundraising in 2020. The three-phase project consisted of fencing, a walking path, parking lot, benches, a pavilion, landscaping, a water station, and the fountain at the site of the former ball diamond.
“Without our sponsors and our giving community, the dog park would have never come to fruition,” Burn said. The On the Move with Parks and Rec Committee consisted of Burn, Michaele Burn, Trevan Burn, Mike Buckwalter, Seth Buckwalter, Charla Olson, Josh Vos, Nick Volckmann, and Lindsey Andersen.
