It also majorly disrupted business at Dave’s Garage, 417 12th St. in Erie, after the heavy snow and winds caused the roof of the main automotive repair shop to collapse, leaving a hole in the heart of the workspace and a floor littered with insulation, broken beams, and sections of metal roof.
Since the incident, the Dave’s Garage crew has been operating with limited service and working at a smaller building while figuring out their next moves. Business owner and automotive mechanic Noel Paxton rents the building after taking over operations three years ago on March 1.
The building’s owner, Dave Gabriel, is ready to move forward with demolition and is still considering whether to rebuild from the ground up. Crews were busy over the weekend hauling out salvageable items and disposing of the rest, in preparation for the demo crews to raze the building as soon as this week. “There’s no fighting Mother Nature,” he said of the building’s demise.
Paxton says he’s looking at all options, but doesn’t have an answer yet on the future of his business at the location. Auto service can still be scheduled by calling 779-250-0126. The community can stay updated on any future developments by following their Facebook page.
