The EP Panther baseball team dropped their sixth in a row Friday afternoon in front of a big crowd at Riverdale 4-0.

The Rams were honoring their seniors and a contribution day to the Millie Moo Foundation added to the draw on the chilly afternoon. The contest only had 12 total hits by the two squads as the pitchers controlled most of the action.

EP loaded the bases in their half of the second on hits by Carter Hadaway and Cade Huisman and a walk to Sawyer Copeland but were unable get the key hit to score.

The Rams were able to get on the board in their third at bat as they had base runners at second and third with two outs. A grounder to third resulted in an overthrow to first allowing both runners to score.

Riverdale tacked on 2 more in the fourth taking advantage of two more Panther errors to take a 4-0 lead.

EP had a couple other chances as James Lopez and Gavin VanDyke were able to garner hits but the hosts were able to close the innings with no-one reaching home.

Panther pitchers Alastaire Sweetser, Evan Steimle and VanDyke were successful in keeping the contest close but didn’t get any offensive help.

The 5-9-1 Panthers are now off until Monday when they host Mendota at 4:30 in Prophetstown.
