Amanda Wegner, a dedicated EMT for both Fire Protection Districts for the past two years, is facing another battle after recent illnesses and testing showed that cancer has returned. She currently lives in Rock Falls with her 14-year-old daughter Ava.
Ambulance Administrator Julie Pope said after hearing of Amanda’s diagnosis, she knew they had to step in to help. “We can always count on her, she always goes above and beyond, and she’s a good, humble person,” said Pope.
The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, September 19th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Prophetstown Fire Station and will feature hamburger meals for $10, hot dog meals for $7, and a silent auction. The meal also includes chips, potato salad, and a drink. There will be drive-thru available or dine-in seating at the station, and department members will also make deliveries to local facilities.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to Amanda to help her through her cancer journey. Donations and baskets for the silent auction are also being accepted.
The departments ask the community to come together to show Amanda love and support during this difficult time.
