Heat Advisory Continues, Severe Storms Possible

Submitted

While Whiteside County remains only under a heat advisory, the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities has also indicated there is a slight chance for severe weather today and tomorrow.

  • Heat wave continues through late week, with headlines in effect.
  • Isolated thunderstorm influences are possible far north today, and north of I-80 Friday; a few severe storms possible.
  • Important to demonstrate heat safety, especially for outdoor events including after school activities.
  • Extreme Heat Warning now in effect through Friday along/south of I-80 corridor; Heat Advisory to the north through Thursday. Dangerous heat expected to continue with peak heat indices in the upper 90s to 105°+.
  • Chances for storms return late tonight and last through Friday, which could temper the heat indices at times mainly across the north. Some of the storms could be strong to severe Thursday through Friday, but confidence is low regarding the timing and coverage this far out.
