ISP Troop 2 Announces August and September Enforcement Results

Submitted

Illinois State Police (ISP) Troop 2 Commander, Captain Jason Dickey, has announced the results of four special patrols held in La Salle and Rock Island counties in August and September.

Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP) during September provided extra patrol coverage for the ISP so officers could focus on saving lives by making sure all vehicle occupants were buckled up.

Violations & Enforcement Activity – August

  • Safety Belt Citations – 9
  • Child Restraint Citations – 0
  • Total Citations – 15
  • Total Written Warnings – 2

Violations & Enforcement Activity – September

  • Safety Belt Citations – 56
  • Child Restraint Citations – 4
  • Total Citations – 91
  • Total Written Warnings – 14

Most motorists know safety belts save lives, but some ignore their safety and that of their families by neglecting to use safety belts and child restraint devices. These patrols reinforce the occupant protection message by focusing on those who ignore the law. Lives can be saved if people simply “buckle up!” This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

  • Other Alcohol/Drug Citations – 0
  • Occupant Restraint Offenses – 1

Alcohol and drug impairment are estimated to be a factor in more than 47% of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois. There is one alcohol-related traffic fatality every 39 minutes in the United States. The ACE program allows officers to work even harder at removing dangerous DUI offenders from the road. This project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
