Morris was born June 25, 1951, in Prophetstown, IL to Morris and Dolores (Weaver) Dever. Morris attended Prophetstown High School with the Class of 1969. He married Vicki Denison Morgan on December 31, 1986, in Rock Falls. Morris was employed at Anixter/Arris Manufacturing for 24 years as an Industrial Engineer and retired from Gate City Steel/Gerdau Ameristeel in 2012 as Production Service Manager for 10 years. Morris enjoyed camping, woodworking, and tinkering in the garage in his spare time, and frequently enjoying coffee with his friends at the Friendship House before its closure. He went through therapy training with his cocker spaniel, Gretchen, and he volunteered to bring her to local nursing homes.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki; three sisters, Mary Koehn, of Greenville, SC, Sandy Maloof, of Bradenton, FL, and Joanne Olson, of Prophetstown; one brother, Carl Dever, of Erie, IL; one sister-in-law, Pam Crandall, of Rock Falls; brother-in-law, Gary Denison, of Defuniiak Springs, FL; several nieces and nephews; and his special dogs, “Tootsie” and “Gracie.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and nephew, Robert and Chris Dever; father-in-law and brother-in-law, Swede and Gene Denison; brother-in-law and niece, Harold and Rebecca Crandall.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. In place of flowers, a memorial has been established.
