Per Robert’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert was born February 26, 1948, in Morrison, IL, the son of Raymond and Elizabeth (Engelkens) Rus. He was raised in the Fulton area and graduated from Fulton High School. Robert served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home Robert worked as a farmer, commodity broker and later worked for Northwestern Steel and Wire as a crane operator. Following his retirement from the steel mill, he became a bus driver for Trailways. Robert was a hard worker who took great pride in everything he did. Growing up helping on the family farm, he developed a strong work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life. He truly enjoyed traveling and was known for his exceptional sense of direction. If anyone needed to figure out how to get somewhere, Robert was often the first person they called.
