The Young Panthers took on Mendota on Monday night looking for their second win of the season.

EP scored on their first play from scrimmage with quarterback Justin Pierceson running 70 yards for a touchdown to set the tone for the evening as EP would go on to a 35-6 win.

On their second possession, running back Noah Berk scampered 39 yards for a score to give EP a14-0 lead.

Berk added a second score on a 1-yard plunge to put the Panthers up by three touchdowns, still in the first quarter.

Freshman, Anden Kochevar added a 34-yard scoring run to put the Panthers up by 27.

Mendota finally got on the board completing a 70-yard touchdown pass to make it a 27-6 game at the half.

The Panthers added on one more score in the second-half with Pierceson connecting to Jaxon Alls on an 18-yard pass to make it 35-6.

“I felt like our guys played well overall” said coach Kyle Foster. “Our lines were dominant, which was the same theme as last week. We also saw the true running abilities of our plethora of running backs, as they were able to break loose for a large number of big plays. My message to them after the game was to stay hungry, our first two games came relatively easily to them so I don’t want them to become complacent. I’m looking forward to the next few weeks, as we should have some very competitive games coming up that will give these guys a good test.”

The 2-0 Panthers will travel to Kewanee next Tuesday at 5:30, as Monday is a holiday.
