Looking for a first win of the season the football Panthers, 0-3, will have their work cut out for them as they host the #6 ranked 1A Morrison Mustangs in Erie on Friday.
The Panthers had no answer for the Monmouth-Roseville running attack last week as they handled EP 35-14. Coach Tyler Whitebread says the offensive woes of his team, outscored 116-21 in three games, can be corrected if all eleven players get on the same page. A constant changing lineup, especially in the Panther backfield has also fed into the offensive woes.
Whitebread said he hopes running back Justus Hough will be able to be more of a contributor this week after seeing some action last week as he works his way back from a game one injury. The Panthers’ other big running threat, Franky Bushaw, is questionable this week as a preseason injury continues to hang on.
The Panthers were also dealt other injury blows last week as linemen Zeb Wickes and Clayton Gerlach are questionable for the Friday’s contest.
Whitebread says is squad is capable of a lot but, “Our margin of error is minimal and we need to keep it minimal.”
