After picking up their sixth win against one loss last week in a victory over Mercer County, the EP Panthers will face a huge test this Friday as they travel to the cornfields of Port Byron to take on the 7-0 Riverdale Rams.
The teams have both been ranked among the best in the state in Class 2A over the past several weeks with the Panther’s only blemish coming in week 5 in a 27-14 loss to highly ranked Rockridge.
EP looked solid in their decisive win at home last Friday, despite playing without starting running back and linebacker Tristan Hovey and lineman Mason Minssen. Quarterback, Evan Steimle did it all for EP as he had 19 carries for 185 yards and 3 touchdowns, was 6-8 throwing the ball, 3 each to Brown for 54 yards and Decker for 35 with each collecting one for a TD.
Riverdale features a running attack that has produced numerous long yardage touchdowns this season with the passing game also a threat.
Panther coach Tyler Whitebread says his team will need to prevent the Ram’s big play scenario and find some takeaways. He is confident in his team’s ability to score but they will need to generate offense on the ground and in the air.
This week’s PPP segment focuses on the clash this Friday and the playoff type atmosphere that is sure to surround it.
