Following the processional, Principal Janet Barnhart welcomed everyone and said this group of students was resilient, humorous, creative, and persistent. They’ve learned, grown, competed, and supported each other. The world is rapidly changing with the emergence of new technology, but their problem-solving skills and ability to work with others will always be important. She commended them on their character, integrity, and communication skills, and congratulated them on this important milestone.
Will Atkinson next led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Louis Hummell of the Prophetstown American Legion 522 giving the annual American Legion Awards to Elle Slock and Will Atkinson. Each year, two students are chosen by their classmates under the supervision of school faculty. This distinguished award is based on citizenship, honor, patriotism, leadership, and service.
