The goal of this program is to get children in the PLT #3 community reading over the summer. But, they need the community’s help! They’re working as hard as they can to help as many kids in grades K-8th have a fun summer of reading. Want to join in their efforts?
How the Program Works
The program kicks off on June 1st and runs through August 1st. The children, along with their parents, set a summer reading goal of 15 (silver) to 30 (gold) points. The child must have their parents and then the librarian sign their tracking paper in order to get credit for each book read. When the child reaches their goal, either 15 or 30 points of reading, a silver or gold certificate will be issued which the child can redeem at a local participating business. Each reader will have only one card per reader.
Your Part in This Program
There will be a $5 limit for the silver level (15 points of reading) and a $10 limit for the gold level (30 points of reading). Your business might opt to have specific items available, or even set aside, for the children at each of the two price levels, or you might choose to have dollars off on purchases. All certificates must be redeemed by October 1st.

The children are potential customers and the parents of the children will most often be coming into your business with them. Participation will not only promote your business but help foster a sense of community. You can hang the redeemed certificates on your wall! We will happily publicly thank participating businesses for your generosity and promote your business at the same time with shout-outs on the Facebook page and the Around Ptown promotion for the program, as well as thank you for your tremendous support in their quarterly Prophetstown Proud Newsletter.
The library will also spotlight the participating businesses throughout the program. The success of this program is completely dependent upon your help. We need your participation!
