The EP Panthers will be looking for medals on Saturday after the conclusion of the preliminary round at the IHSA State Track and Field Finals in Charleston.

EP had competitors in four events on Thursday with three individuals, in two events, making the cut for Saturday.

The Panthers, as expected, will have both of their pole vaulters in the medal round with Nathan Punke and Carson Eyrich both making the final field of twelve with the top nine finishers receiving a spot on the podium.

Sophomore, Lane Decker will also compete for a medal as he placed fifth in the preliminary round of the 300m hurdles. He clocked 40.81, which is just above his season best.

The 4x800m relay team had high hopes to make the field on Saturday but their time of 8:29.9 put them in twenty-second place with a time that was well above their season best 2:23. The quartet of Braeden and Nathan Punke, Justin Wainscott, and Gus Schultz toted the stick for the Panthers.

Braeden Punke also ran the open 800m and finished with a time of 2:06 to place thirtieth after running in the 4×800 just two hours earlier.

The pole vaulters will begin their final round on Saturday at 10AM with Decker competing in his final race of the season around 4:15.
